Corporate Day ’17 – A rendezvous with GE


Symbiosis Institute of Operations Management believes that corporate interface on MBA campus for developing, delivering & enriching learning experience in its depth & breadth is nonnegotiable. Industry presence excites students towards industry cultures and philosophies.

With SIOM Corporate Day we aim to celebrate the company's success stories & unfold its leanings to our students. Our first corporates for 2017 was with GE.August 28 ,2017 marked the inception of a new beginning “ Corporate Day ’17 – A journey with GE “. The event was inaugurated by Mr. Raj Raman (Director Materials & Logistics, GE India ). The event was also graced by Mr. Anup Kumar Pal ( HR Business Partner – GE Supply Chain Sourcing ) , Mr. Sarthak Prakash ( Sourcing Finance Leader , GE South Asia ) and Ms. Shruthi Jorapurkar ( Sourcing Specialist , GE Oil & Gas ). It was followed by a brief introduction about the journey of GE, of how it transformed from a manufacturing to a digital manufacturing company through its Brilliant Factory Initiatives. It was followed by Case presentations by students of SIOM comprising of both, the senior and the junior batch. This was followed by a Panel Discussion on the topic “ Supply Chain Management in the era of Disruption “.

The panel discussion was graced by Mr. Raj Raman & Mr.Anup Kumar Pal and was moderated by Yash Udeshi ( MBA 16-18 ). Raj Raman emphasized that VUCA cannot be avoided but it can be controlled. Anup Pal was questioned on “What are all essential qualities you look out from a student looking for a corporate career ?”. He in turn stressed that the need to continuously evolve is the mantra for sustaining in today’s age of disruption and one needs to flexible in terms of overall development. It was a spectacular day filled with learning where we witnessed real imagination at work.

The first prize for the Case Study competition was bagged by Parth Lunia , Varun Patel , Utkarsh Gupta and Aditya Agarwal and the runner up was bagged by Joseph Yesuvadian , Sanaeya Mondegari , Pradeep K and Vijaya Raghavan. SIOM likes to congratulate the winners of the Case Study Competition organized by GE.
